Nicolas Fructus, artiste polymorphe oeuvre entre autres choses, pour le dessin animé : chez Marina Productions, il travaille sur Dog Tracer (posing, lay-out, storyboard…) ; pour France Animation, il assure le story-board et conçoit les décors d’Ivanhoé.

Nommé directeur artistique de la société Arxel Tribe, il est amené à collaborer avec des dessinateurs comme Moebius (sur Pilgrim) et Philippe Druillet (sur Ring). Il définit également la charte graphique de jeux comme Faust, Louvre, Pompei et Casnova.
Mais il n’abandonne pas pour autant le dessin animé, puisqu’il « story-boarde » Wheel Squad pour France Animation. 2001 : Sa maîtrise de l’infographie marque son premier album : Le Fou sans nom, qui ouvre Thorinth, une série dont il assure aussi le scénario. Son utilisation très personnelle de l’outil informatique (une mise en couleur « opaque » de ses crayonnés scannés) lui permet en effet de suggérer des ambiances très personnelles.
En parallèle de « Thorinth » débute avec Luc Besson l’aventure « Arthur et les Minimoys« , aventure qui durera près de trois ans. Depuis 2005, Nicolas Fructus essaie de combiner plaisir et gros oeuvre en réalisant des illustrations fantastiques (aux Éditions du Bélial), de nombreuses collaborations avec l’éditeur de jeux et de figurines Rackam, (« La cité franche de Cadwallon », « AT 43 »..) et la bande dessinée.
